It’s official! Isaac and I are officially engaged! This morning, Isaac took me to the park… it was pouring rain, but he wanted to go stand under the pavilion because “that’s where we said goodbye last trip.” I thought it would be fun to run through the rain, so I gleefully agreed. By the time we got to the pavilion, we were pretty wet, so we stood around for a minute trying to dry out and laughing about the fun. Then I noticed Isaac was staring at me. I said, “What?” He said, “You have the most beautiful eyes.” I smiled and this is what he said…
“Her eyes are soft and dark
They are the mirror of her heart
They are the windows to her soul
They are tender, revealing her caring nature
Her eyes sparkle as she smiles
They shine as glowing embers in the night
Their encouragement reflects her wisdom
They are honest and true
Their beauty is seen in their depth
They are tender and understanding
They are mighty and strong
And yet loving and gentle
The eyes of a woman
The color of brown
Tender and deep
They are my friend
This friend so faithful and true
Is the one I’d like to ask, meaning you
To spend her rest of her life
As my lawfully wedded wife”

“Sweetheart, two years ago today we talked for the first time and ever since then I’ve known there was something special about you. A few months later, in this park, I asked you if you would be willing to consider if the Lord meant for us to spend our lives together. A few months later I would take you on your first date in this town, and in July we would have a hug in this park that would remain unfinished until now. In August, we would say goodbye in this park as I would gain your father’s blessing to marry you. Today I want to ask you to be my “chosen one.” So, Susannah Rachelle, my wonderful and beautiful Friend, will you marry me?”
About the time he knelt, I realized what was happening… and of course, started crying. When he reached the end of the most beautiful proposal in the world, I was happy to say yes and he presented me with the most BEAUTIFUL ring. We’re so happy. The Lord has given us the desires of our hearts. We are so thankful.

(Symbolism: two heart sapphires for our two hearts, and a band that is double and then merges into one as a sign of the promise that our lives will be joined in marriage.)
